Snake bites are one of the most feared outcomes when facing off against the reptilian predators. Venomous snakes known to inflict great damage with little poison, even known to kill humans who have encountered the creatures. However, as this story shows, treatment of the injury following a snake bite is crucial to help save the infected area or even the person who was bit. A 13 year old girl suffered a horrific injury when she was bitten by a highly venomous snake. However, what happened to her limb following the bite is an image that you likely won’t soon forget.

A 13 year old girl from Venezuela suffered one of the most graphic snake bites you’ve likely seen after being bitten by a venomous snake of unknown origin. It’s said that following the snake bite she was not given medical treatment but instead given rural remedies. It’s speculated that she was given antibiotics to treat the injury, the lack of treatment causing her leg to experience extreme necrosis. It was a month before the family of the young girl sought out the appropriate medical treatment in Caracas, Venezuela but by then, her injury had deteriorated far too much.

The girls leg is in extreme condition, shriveled and barely hanging on by a thread. Its seen in a black and green color with severe muscle tissue damage. It was shared by the Instagram feed, juventumedica, an account which posts many medical themed images. The image has been commented on 675 times.

However, while its been reported that the young teenage girls leg was unable to heal, one source suggests her injury has the potential to get even worse, saying that her bite has resulted in rhabdomyolysis, a condition that causes the dissolution of her skeletal muscles. If untreated, this could be fatal as it may cause her kidneys to fail.
